Welcome to the Terrestrial Ecosystem Science and Services (TESS) Lab, led by Dr Andrew Cunliffe at the University of Exeter.

We research how landscapes work—and how to manage them sustainably for people and nature. We pursue an applied research agenda in geospatial ecology, using advanced mapping and spatial analysis tools to reveal how ecosystems function across scales, and integrating social science to advance sustainability in socially just and ecologically robust ways. We collaborate widely with academic and non-academic partners to maximise the impact of our work.

TESS Lab is an inclusive and supportive environment. We have regular group meetings to advance our collective knowledge, maintain online workspaces , and provide mentorship to help every individual progress towards their career goals. Our diverse group is thriving and currently comprises 13 members ranging from postgraduate students to postdoctoral staff. We are committed to integrity and champion Open Research to maximise the societal benefit of our work.
